NEW DATE: Solano EDC March 30, 2011 Breakfast

Elimination of Redevelopment and
State’s Shift of Programs to Local Communities.
What’s the impact to our economy?

Governor Brown’s 2011-12 budget will shut down redevelopment agencies in California along with realignment of State programs by passing responsibility to counties and cities. The elimination of Redevelopment Agencies takes away the major economic development and affordable housing financing tools from the Cities of Dixon, Fairfield, Rio Vista, Suisun City, Vacaville and Vallejo

This breakfast will feature Jim Wunderman, CEO of the Bay Area Council just back from meetings with the Governor and other key state leaders. Jim will provide the budget impacts and regional view.
Solano City Managers will forecast the local impacts of this budget on the local economy.

Solano communities have benefited from redevelopment and city managers will discussion how redevelopment is one of the few remaining tools that local governments have to comply with state requirements for more urban compact development, housing, infrastructure and jobs, under AB 32 and SB 375. Each presenter will show how this state budget and the elimination of redevelopment will transform how housing and economic development is done in your community.
